Physician Dr. John Wall and apothecary William David together discovered and developed a method of manufacturing porcelain and with the help of additional investors established their first factory at Warmstry House in Worcester, England. Royal Worcester discontinued this pattrn in 2015.DESCRIPTIONThis listing is for a marked Royal Worchester Evesham Gold oval covered butter dish. The underplate carries a center motif of two plums surrounded by foliage. The oval domed lid carries the images of lemon, black and red raspberries, and a stalk of corn. The top of the lid carries a round finial. The edge of the finial and the circumference of the oval underplate are done in gold gilt.  The inside of the lid as well as the bottom of the underplate carries the Royal Worcester mark dated 1961 as well as the pattern name Evesham.CONDITIONThis marked Royal Worcester Evesham Gold two piece oval covered butter dish is in wonderful condition. The surface of the porcelain is free of any signs of damage such as chips, cracks, flea bites, and repairs. I did not notice any surface scratches, staining, or crazing. This Royal Worcester two piece set has come from a smoke free estate collection and is odor free.~SHIPPING COSTS~ I will be shipping this item to you via United States insured Priority Mail.
