After further research I've realised that what I thought was small amounts of clay within the groves of the chased design is actually small traces of a creamy white enamel. This means the ring would have originally been enamelled between the chased design. According to what I've just read this makes it the rarest type of posy ring design that was made. Very similar ring for sale at a Hatton Garden jewellers for over £7,000.00
