1882 Dated Painted Porcelain Stein Beer Maiden, Drunk Friar Lidded German early
Price: US $306.89
I\'m selling this beautiful early porcelain Stein. It is hand painted with a Beer Maiden balancing on a barrel while playfully spilling the beer she is holding. There are initially on the barrel that the maiden is balancing on - to me it looks like PAK, but it may be a RAK. The decorations around the stein are also painted. The lid is very interesting and externally looks aged. It\'s dated AD 1882 and has an intricate carving on the lid and a drunk friar giving cheers on the thumb handle. I don\'t know much about this, so it may be your opportunity to find a gem at a low price. There are no makers marks or signatures on the stein. The exterior of the lid looks uniformly aged and the painting looks period based on the style and womans face. The stein measures 7 1/4\" and 8 1/2\" with the lid. I will be happy to answer any questions, and would appreciate any info on the stein, if you feel like sharing!

I have received the following info from a very helpful er. Please see below:\"The initials on the barrel are FAK which stand for Friedrich August Kaulbach, the artist who painted the Schutzenliesel painting in about 1880.\" He also said the thumb lift is the Munich Child, not a drunk friar. Hope this helps!
