1904 TIN LITHO ADVERTISING BEER TRAY PRE-PROHIBITION STEGMAIER BREWING COMPANY
Price: US $123.50
Very rare and very beautiful, original 1904 Stegmaier Brewing Co. (of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) Pre-Prohibition, Tin Lithographed Advertising Beer Tray featuring an outstanding image of a beautiful, young woman in the \"Pretty Girl\" style of Angelo Asti.

This wonderful, Tin Litho Beer Tray measures 13 1/2\" in diameter and features a fantastic image of a beautiful and alluring young woman wearing a red shawl that exposes her bare shoulder. The gauzy blouse she wears is low cut and her long, auburn colored hair flows over her left shoulder. Text on the raised rim at the reads \"Compliments Stegmaier Brewing Co., Wilkes-Barre, PA.\".

This outstanding, Pre-Prohibition Buffalo Brewing Company Advertising Beer Tray is copyright 1904 by the manufacturer - C. W. Girsch of New York City. The Chromolithography is of the VERY highest quality as would be expected from the outstanding craftsmen employed by this premier maker of tin lithographed and chromolithographed paper advertising items.

The image of the beautiful, young woman is not signed by the artist but is executed in the \"Pretty Girl\" genera introduced by Artist Angelo Asti. Asti burst upon the American Advertising Art scene in 1904 with his first Art Nouveau style image of a beautiful, buxom girl titled “Colette”. He originated what is called the “pretty girl” style of Advertising Art - \"Pretty girl\" art is a term used to refer to painting of a glamour art nature that was done by mainstream illustrators. It found its audience among popular magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Cosmopolitan and in the world of advertising.

This very beautiful, 1904 Stegmaier Brewing Co. Advertising Serving Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original 1904 Serving Tray manufactured by C. W. Girsch. for the Brewery to advertise their Beer.

This beautiful and exceptionally rare, Pre-Prohibition Tin Lithograph Advertising Beer Tray is in very good condition and displays beautifully. The Chromolithography is bright and bold - rich and warm and very attractive. The Tray displays nicely but has had some scattered, small spots of professional surface restoration and there is also some mottling to the colors in the area of the woman\'s chest and neck (see the images below). This mottling to the colors is much less obtrusive when the Tray is viewed \"in hand\" and much more noticeable in the scans below.

A rare and very beautiful, 1904 Stegmaier Brewing Co. Tin Lithograph Advertising Beer Tray and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
