Very Rare and wonderful, Large Size ca1910's Tin Lithographed Advertising Serving Tray for Cunningham's Ice Cream manufactured in Chicago, Illinois featuring a fantastic factory view. This very attractive, Ice Cream / Dairy, Advertising Serving Tray measures approx. 18 1/2" by 15 1/2" and carries the mark of the manufacturer - the American Can Company of Haywood, Ill.
The Tray features a central image of the new and massive factory of the John T. Cunningham Ice Cream Factory!! There is an American Flag flying from the roof above the entrance and a wonderful, ca1915 Ice Cream Delivery truck parked at the curb in front of the factory. The sign above the entrance reads "John T. Cunningham / Manufacturer of Fine Ice Creams & Fruit Ices". Text in the image area below the factory reads "The Factory Behind the Product". The raised rim of the Tray features a wonderful Art Nouveau design and text that reads “Cunningham’s” at the top and "Ice Cream" at the bottom.
This wonderful 1910’s Cunningham’s Ice Cream Advertising Serving Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original Tin Lithograph Serving Tray manufactured in the early 20th century to promote the sale of Cunningham’s Ice Cream.
This outstanding, 1910's Advertising Ice Cream Serving Tray is in excellent++ condition - the lithography is bright and vibrant and the Tray displays beautifully. The Image is very clean with no significant surface scratches, surface loss or scuffing. There are two minuscule surface blemishes to the Image area, a single very small nick to the rolled rim (at 9 o’clock) and some very light and a bit of very light surface scuffs to small areas of the raised rim. The back of the Tray has some very light wear only. Overall this impressive, large size Tin Litho Tray is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully!! Please see the scans below for a good indication of the outstanding condition of this wonderful, early 20th century Ice Cream Advertising Tray.
