1920s Slingerland “Maybell” Banjo Ukulele Birdseye Maple Vintage Antique Rare
Price: US $143.50

Aloha!

For sale is a nice old Slingerland “Maybell” Banjo Ukulele from the mid-1920s. Soprano-sized, the pot is birdseye maple laminate with an open back, no tone ring and 12 brackets. The neck is solid maple with 16 nickel-silver frets, and dot inlays at the 5th, 7th and 12th frets. The tailpiece and Grover bridge are both new replacements. The tuners look original and work great. All bracket hooks and nine of the nuts are original; three nuts are vintage replacements. The pot diameter is 6-3/4”, the scale length 13-7/8”, the overall length 20”, and the width at the nut is 1-3/16”.

Has a new calfskin head, low action -- currently 3/32“ at the 12th fret, though that will vary with the weather-- and sounds great, with big volume for its size. A sweet instrument. No case, but it will be packed well.

CONDITION: Quite good. The neck is straight and the frets show little wear. Probably had a tone ring at one time, but sounds fine without. The finish on the outside of the pot was touched up with shellac and two coats of nitrocellulose guitar lacquer; elsewhere it’s original and in sound condition, with some wear as shown in the photos.

NEWBIES: If you have a zero response score, no problem -- offer away -- but please contact me by e-mail first, or I will have to cancel your offer.

SHIPPING: I ship only to the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, Alaska and U.S. Protectorates. No P.O. boxes, please, and no international sales. Domestic shipping is usually via UPS Ground ($15.00), with an extra $25.00 for shipment to Hawaii, Alaska or U.S. Protectorates.

Mahalo for looking.
