Rare and very attractive, 1930 original, pink Glass Mission Orange Soda Countertop Advertising Soda Fountain Syrup Dispenser with chrome plated base. This outstanding, Heavy Glass Syrup Dispenser measures 12 1/2\" tall overall, 6 3/4\" in diameter at the top and 6 1/4\" in diameter at the base. It features a heavy metal, pedestal base and a molded, pink depression glass reservoir with the original, chromed lid with rotating agitator.
The reservoir of the Dispenser features oval planchets on the front and rear with lettering that reads “Mission / Real Fruit Juice Sweetened”. Additional lettering on the front of the Dispenser reads \" Property of Mission Bay Corporation\" and \"Pat. No. D-82798\". Although the Dispenser is not dated, the Design Patent Number dates the Dispenser to December 16, 1930. Besides the lettering, the beautiful, pink depression glass reservoir features an all-over “crackling” that resembles the surface of ice . The Dispenser retains its original, nickel plated spigot as well as its original, heavy, nickel plated, iron pedestal base and chromed lid.
The company that created Mission Orange Soda went through several name and location changes over the years. Initially, California Crushed Fruit Company in Los Angeles produced the first Mission soft drinks. Their Mission Orange Soda was so successful that in 1930 they formed The Mission Dry Corporation and started bottling Mission Orange soda in a unique black bottle. By the 1950’s they had become \"Mission of California, Inc.\" with offices based in New Haven, Connecticut. Throughout their total history, they manufactured soft drinks and soda fountain syrups from about 1929 to 1970.
This very rare and very beautiful, Mission Orange Soda Fountain, Countertop Advertising Dispenser is in excellent condition - clean and crisp and beautiful. There are no chips, cracks, edge wear, roughage, damage or repairs of any kind to the glass reservoir. The spigot is exceptionally well preserved. The pedestal base is intact and sound with no physical damage or repairs and with only light wear to the nickel plated. The Dispenser retains the oft missing, original lid with rotating agitator which is also well preserved.
