Only a single example of this extremely rare buckle has sold on in the past decade that we can find, and it was made by Sunset Trails using the McCabe dies. This one, however, is an ORIGINAL McCabe dating from the early 20th century -- we believe before WWII. Aside from the maker\'s mark on the back to tell the difference, the McCabe design has the cowboy boots facing inward, while the later Sunset Trails version has them facing outward. Thishand-engraved buckle has a solid gold rope edge and inner profusely pierced sterling silver floraldesign. At the center is a large solid gold longhorn steer head with rubies for eyes, a gold saddle above, two gold cowboy boots facing inward, and a gold banner at the bottom engraved with \"MIKE KELLEY.\" We\'re not sure who Kelley was, but he must have been someone special to have such a prized buckle... it\'s possible this buckle was awarded to him as a trophy. The gold is more than thick enough for your jeweler to remove Kelly\'s name and add yours if you wished. On the back is the coveted early diamond-shaped mark reading \"McCABE SILVERSMITHS HOLLYWOOD STERLING 10K.\"We have not polished the buckle in order to preserve the original patina (but you can easily polish it to a brilliant shine). It measures 3 3/4\"in width, 2 5/8\" in height, and weighs a hefty 87.9 grams (about 3 ounces). Aside from normal tiny signs of age and careful use, the condition is excellent with no deep scratches, damage or repairs... it is exactly as you\'d want it. The inner dimensions of the belt loop are 1 5/8\" x 3/8\". This belt buckle is ready to wear, and would impress even the most highbrow western-wearaficionado! We are starting this saleat $9.99 with .
