This is an antique violin with genuine leather case from a local estate (no bow). The instrument is dated \"1891\" in ink to inside of back, and labeled \"Anton Dehmal Musik Instrumentenmacher VII. Brettegasse 11 Wien.\" The \"button\" is nicely signed \"ANTON DEHMAL IN WIEN\" stamped into the wood (see images). The body measures 7 7/8\" wide x 14 1/16\" long, and 23 1/8\" long overall (not including button or bottom peg). It featurues premium figured tigerstripe grained 2pc back and ribs, with rich color to hand rubbed original varnish. Ebony fingerboard. The little details are finer than we usually see, with wonderful sculpted edges / inlaid purfling, gracefully carved scroll, and f-holes with extremely elegant tiny \"nicks\" (see close-up image). We don\'t play, but It appears to be in fine condition with only normal signs of age and careful use (see inages). The only thing we see to mention is a small hairline at the treble f-hole, and original owner name in the varnish underside of scroll (see images). Amazing for 123 year old instrument, and a testiment to it\'s loving use and careful storage all those years. It\'s the nicest estate violin that we\'ve seen in a long time! Sound post is in place. It has not been played in many years, so will likely need routine servicing before use. Case is very high quality and nice condition, with expected signs of normal age and handling.
