This is an antique violin with two bows and case from a local estate.  The violin is labeled \"Alois Kühnel Violinmacher Mohlhausen i.S. 1920.\"  It appears to be a copy of a Stradivarius model, measuring x 23 1/2\" long overall x 8 1/8\" wide x 14 1/8\" long back (not including button).  The two-piece back and ribs are wonderfully figured flame tiger-stripe maple (see images). The violin\'s scroll and f-holes are beautifully hand carved / sharply detailed, and the purfling is finely inlayed. Top-knotch quality workmanship throughout. This violin\'s condition is absolutely AMAZING!  No cracks or repairs, and 100% original untouched condition. Virtually exactly as it left the maker\'s workshop 95 years ago!  The hand rubbed varnish surface glows with a wonderful warm aged patina (see images). It has not been recently played and appears to have been well maintained and put away in good working order (sound post is in place). The only thing we see to mention are a few tiny handling marks to finish (see images). The case is very high quality, and is signed with a unique violin shaped Philadelphia retailer\'s metal tag. Interior is very clean plush velvet, and the black exterior shows some expected signs of normal wear (will provide good protection in shipping). The two unsigned bows show signs of use, and one is missing hair (see images). This is a fine quality German instrument in near SHOWROOM condition. It\'s a very BEAUTIFUL antique violin, and in 1920 we believe would have been a costly outfit in a Philadelphia violin shop.  Nice!  As with all vintage instruments we offer, it is being sold in as-found condition for restoration, parts, or display.
