We arelisting for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th century Stoneware Salt Glazed Tree DecoratedAlexandria Virginia or WashingtonDC Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a repair to a small 1/2\" drilled hole at the base. At some point someone decided to make a lamp out of the crock or drilled it for drainage. The crock is guaranteed 100% sound and solid. There is some slight manufactured roughness withdrip to the glaze at the top rim& an area of thick slightly darker salt glaze around the base rim. The inside of the crock at the base hasa small area of glaze miss or loss to the Albany brown glaze.There are no other chips, cracks, and or repairs. You can refer to the pictures, we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the excellent condition. The crockmeasures 10 1/2\" tall, the top rim measures 6 7/8\" x 7 1/4\" x 9\" wide x 5 1/8\" at the base and weighs approximately 7lb 3oz. The crock has a great primitive hand drawn free formcobalt blue tree decoration on the front, what looks to be a large 7 in cobalt blue on the other side, and blue around the hand applied and tooled small ear handles. Wonderful thickness to the cobalt blue giving it great texture. Great early ovoid form to this crock, we believe it is Northern Virginia possibly H Smith & Co, Parr, or Swann. A great example of Virginia Stoneware dating from the early to mid 1800\'s with a wonderful unique primitive decoration and great form. This crock would make a great addition to anyone\'s collection.
