This is a Fantastic old Cast Iron Sink Box Duck Decoy from the early 20th century featuring whats left of a Wonderful old Folk Art Paint Job thathas spent several decades out on the water.This old Cast Iron Decoy would have been used to submerge a wooden sink box in the water where the hunter would lay down and wait for the ducks to come in. Just imagine laying in a Coffin style Box, submerged to water level, with your Shotgun in hand waiting for the right moment when you would spring up and shoot yourself a duck or two. This style of hunting was very popular just after the Turn of the Century and Iron Ducks from this time frame are getting harder & harder to come by. This one was found in Maryland though the Wide bottom base was more commonly seen on NC Sink Box Birds. This one is Estate Fresh & is Guaranteed to Impress the Pickiest of Clients.

This old Bird Displays very Well & Would be a Welcome addition to Any Collection. He is incredibly heavy (24 lbs)and is ready to Retire to a Spot on your Shelf. He also makes a Fantastic DoorStop.
