Antique European Mechanical Automaton Singing Double Bird Cage Music Box Working a.imagelink {color:#cec7af;} a:hover.imagelink {color:#cec7af;} a:visited.imagelink {color:#000006;} a.imagelink img.saleimage { border: 2px solid #cec7af; } a:visited.imagelink img.saleimage { border: 2px solid #000006; } This listing is for a large, antique French mechanical singing double bird in cage music box.  The cage measures 22 inches or 55.8 cm high to the top of the loop and is 11 inches or 28 cm in diameter at the bottom of the cage. The box is all gilt brass, with a wood bottom.
The music box is mechanical and winds from a key at the bottom of the box.

The music box has two birds; the larger is red and white and is standing on a perch with ivy, the other is yellow and is standing on the ground. The bottom of the cage is lined in a red velvet fabric. There is a lever on the side of the cage that starts and stops the bird singing.   The singing the birds move their beaks, turn their heads back and forth, and shake their tail feathers.  When the bellows play they are strong and clear and the birds have a long and elaborate and pretty song.  

It is in very good to excellent condition.  There are age appropriate variations to the gilt patina on the cage. The birds are in overall very good condition with little to no missing feathers.
