This is a richly colored piece that lays flush and wraps beautifully around the neck. Originally it is likely that there was a drop at the bottom of the central pendant, there is a tiny spot that looks like it was mended a long time ago at the bottom of the central pansy. The natural garnets are both vivid and rich in color with a little extra sparkle from foiling at the base of the setting. There are no stones missing and they all look original. There are no chips to the garnets and the surfaces are fresh and gleaming. There is one petal on the front pansy that is cracked (it can be seen in a photo), the crack is at the surface and does not go through the stone - the garnet is secure in the setting. There are no other cracks to the garnets and the foiling is bright with a modest amount of wear. The setting is both delicate and sturdy with a smooth surface to the back that doesn’t have any dents or misshapen spots. The necklace has a rich glow and vibrant light that remains bright after 200 years. Overall this is a radiant and stately, natural almandine garnet necklace, that is from the Georgian era and is in very good condition.
