ANTIQUE GEORGIAN LOVERS EYE GOLD EARRINGS – 19TH CENTURY
A fabulous pair of 18ct yellow gold Lovers Eye hand painted Earrings.
Eyes have long been thought of as the\'window of the soul\' alternately revealing
and concealing one\'s deepest thoughts and feelings. Symbolically, the eye
has turned up as the all seeing eye of God long used by the Masonic Order,
the French police adopted the watchful eye as a theme for buckles and belts and,
during the French Revolution, the Revolutionary party used it to signify a member\'s
allegiance. During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries a more
innocent interpretation of the eye as a simple love token appeared on the scene
in the form of a miniature painting.
A \"lover\'s eye\" miniature is a painted miniature of the giver\'s eye,
presented to a loved one. The notion accompanying this very short lived
fad (c.1790 through 1820) was that the eye would be recognizable only to the
recipient and could therefore be worn publicly keeping the lover\'s identity a secret.
In contradiction however, portraits from the period rarely show the sitter overtly
wearing or holding an eye miniature thereby perhaps indicating that the wearers
concealed these intimate portraits from view to further guard their secrecy.
Each eye is hand painted depicting a lovely blue eye with very fine detail of the eyebrows and lashes under crystal.
Set with a beautiful rope edge finish in gold.

We welcome layaway payments and ask for 50% of the item value as a deposit (including shipping) and the balance to be fully repaid within 3 months. If goods purchased on layaway are later returned, or , in the meantime, the customer changes their mind, a 20% restocking administration fee is applicable to cover our costs in resisting and marketing the item.

Returns & Refunds
As this purchase has been made through the distance selling methods you are entitled by law to cancel this order within 14 working days. We must receive the item back within 14 days for you to qualify for a refund.
If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase we will give you a full refund (exclusive of shipping charges) and you must notify us by email or telephone of an intent to return goods within 14 days after you have received the item.
Items must be returned fully insured for the price paid, in the same condition as dispatched, in the original packaging, without any alterations, tampering, unauthorised testing or damage. Please also include your sales receipt.
Returns or credits will be processed within 14 days of receipt and inspection of item(s). We will confirm receipt of the returned item(s) and completion of the refund by email.

Unless otherwise stated, any sizing and colour assessments attributed to diamonds and coloured gemstones are necessarily determined without disturbing the integrity of the piece; therefore, assessments represent close approximations, due to limitations imposed by the mount.
We will not consider the opinion of any other 3rd party other than a qualified and experienced gemmologist / antique jewellery expert. Should you feel that your item has been misrepresented then please return the item within 14 days and we will pay for an independent assessment to be carried out.
If the item has been proven to be misrepresented you will get a full refund and your shipping refunded.
