For you consideration: This German stein is quite unique. It appears that this was done up to commemorate someones time in a signal unit. It is glazed ceramic and personalized. All text is in German. There are no chips or cracks, and no damage to the glaze. I can find no manufactures hallmark, only an incised number 3 on the base. The handle is pewter, with the top portion of the bell being stainless and mounted on a base of pewter. There is some rust on the bell, but it is fully functional and sounds wonderful. Fabulous period graphic, with the crown over the seal in gold. This is truly a lovely piece !! I have owned this for a good ten years now, and I have never attempted to do any cleaning to the metal for fear of causing damage. In no way am I an expert on antique steins. I purchased this as my grandfather had been in a signal unit in World War 1 and my Dad collected steins. In my mind this stein ties all of this together and has made it a very special piece in my china cabinet. However, it is time to part with it and let it become a focal point in someone else\'s collection.
