An extremely well decorated antique 19th Century Japanese Kutani porcelain plate charger believed to be of the Meiji period The charger is beautifully hand painted with a Foo dog / lion to the centre together with much decorative decoration , scrolls, lattice work flowers and gilding and 12 vignettes of various Japanese landscape scenes, birds, flowers, insects and baskets of fruit and flowers probably depicting each month of the year to the outer. The plate is also beautifully decorated to the reverse with painted gold character marks or signature to the centre. Overall the plate / charger is extremely finely painted, showing incredible detail and highlighted with gold gilt.Measures ; (24 cm ) 9.1/2 \" inches across / diameter The plate does have some damage and amateur repair and with these being, to the rim edge a piece has been broken and glued back, chip to rim edge and fine hairline running from the rim edge , original manufacturing / firing fault being a tiny raised pin head spot of porcelain about 2\" from centre and age crazing and there are a couple of original manufacturing sliver snips to the inside edge of foot rim base.The above all only commensurate with the plates age and many years of use and display and it is nevertheless still a wonderful piece of Japanese art and craftsmanship and so may be of some interest to students or collectors for research , study and or display and with the many pictures showing it\'s condition where it can be judged on it\'s own merit, so please do enlarge and check these out carefully if it is of interest. An extremely well decorated antique 19th Century Japanese Kutani porcelain plate charger believed to be of the Meiji period
The charger is beautifully hand painted with a Foo dog / lion to the centre together with much decorative decoration , scrolls, lattice work, flowers and gilding and 12 vignettes of various Japanese landscape scenes, birds, flowers, insects and baskets of fruit and flowers probably depicting each month of the year to the outer.
