This style 0 soprano Jonah Kumalae ukulele was the victim of several amateur repairs which include a long repaired side crack and two top cracks, and the top glued down in a slipshod manner. However, on the plus side the repairs have held up and the thing holds tune (it has pretty new grover sta-tite tuners) and the cracks show no sign of weakening or separating. I have used D\'Addario EJ53s strings on it, and installed the current strings within the past two months. Intonation is good, action is low, it plays real easy and I have had no problems playing it, mostly a combo of finger pick and strumming. I decided to keep just my best soprano ukulele and sell my other two. FYI the decal is the standard one found on Kumalae ukes stated highest award at panama pacific exposition of 1915, which was when the ukulele craze really began on the mainland. There are a ton of scratches and smudges on the finish which are the product of nearly a century of wear and tear. Maybe some work with fine steel wool would take these out, also there are two round indentations on the side, apparently where clamps were applied to the side crack. The smudges etc. don\'t show up well in the photos, but trust me they are there. To sum up this is a nice sounding easy playing uke made with nice wood that is perfectly suitable for someone who needs a campfire ukulele or a beginners uke. I have the old canvas case for it somewhere if you want it. Otherwise no case for it.
