A decorated Stoneware Crock with freehand Cobalt Script, 2-Gallon capacity, New York State origin, ca.1885. The maker\'s mark impressed below the rim reads: J. FISHER / LYONS, N.Y. Jacob Fisher ran this Upstate manufactory for roughly 30 years (1872-1902); see Internet for further information. Front features an impressive, freehand \"Lyons\" with tornado flourish and capacity designation in very bold, slip-trailed cobalt. Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior.

Condition: One handle has sheared off (left side), and some scattered glaze flakes, as shown; otherwise Very Good. No cracks or repaired damage. Super bold decoration and spotless interior on this one. I would consider this piece a must-have for the Wayne County stoneware collector.
