An exceptional, cobalt-decorated Stoneware Storage Jar or Preserve Crock, 3-Gallon capacity, likely the brothers Ottman, William and Gilbert, Fort Edward, NY, ca.1880.
Description: A well-potted, cylindrical form with eased shoulder, tooled rim with integrated inner ledge for a lid, and applied lug handles. Front features an artistically-executed Stylized Floral in bold, Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior.
Condition: This Jar survives in Excellent, as-made condition with minimal wear; just a small glaze flake on the upper rim (see close-ups). No cracks, repaired damage or other excuses. Super clean inside and out. Displays brilliantly. A Keeper; especially If condition is of utmost importance in your collection.
