A fine, decorated Stoneware Cream Pot or Crock, 3-Gallon capacity, Massachusetts origin, ca.1865. There is an crisp, impressed stamp with cobalt wash on the shoulder that reads: F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS. This was the earliest mark by partners Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock (Bennington, VT), used between 1858-1877. Description. A well-potted, Semi-Ovoid form with tooled rim and applied lug handles. Front features an exceptional large Stylized Floral executed in the boldest Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Shiny, Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior.

Condition: Some minor, shallow chips on the inner rim; otherwise Excellent. Some interior water stains and slight wear on the heaviest areas of cobalt noted for complete descriptive accuracy. No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. This Keeper is highly-appropriate for the advanced collector of Antique Stoneware or Americana. See photos for complete details and close-ups. The inner and outer rim diameters are 7-3/4\" and 9-1/4\", respectively; quite heavy at 10.6 lbs.
