Antique Stoneware: Chicago Illinois Beer Bottle, Pint, James Stenson, c.1880, NR
Price: US $113.26

An early, Midwestern Stoneware Beer Bottle with brewer's mark, 1-Pint capacity, Chicago, Illinois, ca.1880's. Pressed in a 3-part (Merrill) mold and salt-glazed, featuring crisp impressed stamp that reads: JAMES STENSON / CHICAGO. This bottle would predate the later-formed Stenson Brewing Company, and probably contained Weiss Beer, a light-colored, effervescent ale that was made from top fermented malted wheat. See Internet for further information on the process/maker.

Condition: Excellent overall. There is a shallow chip and some imperfections in-the-making on the rim, and two small dings on the base, as shown. Nice "orange peel" texture on the shoulder. No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. A clean example with highly sought-after Chicago brewer's mark. See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. 1-Pint capacity; measures approximately 7-5/8"H x 2-5/8"W overall; weighs 1lb 5oz.
