Description: A rare Pre-Pro Beer, Ale or Porter Bottle, New York State origin, ca.1880-1900. Champagne form with applied Blob Top finish; blown in a vibrant, Emerald Green glass. Retains original aluminum and rubber stopper with wire \"Lighting\" closure. Embossed slug plate mold reads: JOHN STANTON BREWING CO. / TRADE [JS Monogram Logo] MARK / TROY, N.Y. Stanton took over the large \"Collar City\" brewery operated by Abraham Nash around 1880. See Internet for further information.

Condition: The closure assembly has expected wear, soiling and oxidation, as shown. It is marked LIGHTNING / 3 / PAT SEPT (illegible date) on button (see close-up, photo #7). Expected surface wear and minor interior residue consistent with age, use and handling, as shown; otherwise Very Good to Excellent with strong color. Several air and ash inclusions noted throughout. The inner lip has wear and a small open burst. Two tiny flakes noted in the area of the slug plate. Displays brilliantly on a sill; a highly south-after color and Stanton variant that will feature prominently in any collection of 19thC. Breweriana.
