This piece has very large links with a classical Riviere profile that is very full and striking when worn. The paste is a deep and dark purple color and the paste is quite thick so the necklace has a lot of depth in color and sparkle. The color is really beautiful and is accurately depicted in the photographs. The paste is open at the back and faceted on both sides to increase the amount of light and refraction. There are a few very small chips to the paste (you can see a few in the photos) but they are all at the back and noticeable only on inspection. The necklace is extremely fresh looking, the paste is smooth and gleaming and the faceting is still crisp. There are no irregularities to the setting, one connecting link was repaired but it is not noticeable even on close inspection. The setting is fresh looking and is a pretty compliment to the paste. The setting is well made and very sturdy so the piece is very wearable. Overall this is a finely made and very striking, sterling silver and Amethyst paste Riviere necklace, that is from the Victorian era and is in Excellent condition
