You are offerding on this Beautiful Antique Italian Silver & Enamel Hand-painted powder compact from the late 1800\'s. The compact is marked with a hallmark that I cannot quite identify and the number 800 for the silver content (see pictures). I believe the dark blue enameling surrounding the outer most part of the compact is Lapis and the inner lighter ring of blue is Turquoise, and the scene appears to be hand-painted when inspected closely with a jewelers loop... the back and sides of the compact are heavily & beautifully engraved with a floral and leafy design and the insides of the compact appear to have been gold washed. The compact measures 3\" from hinge to front x 3\" from side to side at its widest point x nearly 1/2\" thick and weighs 96 grams. It has its original powder screen and the original beveled mirror is in excellent condition. The hinges are in excellent condition and the compact closes with a snapand opens easily as it should. The only fault I can find on the entire compact is a small chipped area in the blue Lapis near where you open the compact, and it is not chipped out (you can see what I am talking about in the close up view in the last picture). I have not polished or cleaned the compact, it is as I found it...fresh from a local estate, but I am sure it will polish up beautifully if you desire to do so.
