This bayonet is in very good condition with no damage or corrosion with only a little staining on the unfullered blade. It is stamped with the Crown of Queen Victoria over VR over \'89 over Wilkinson Sword Company over London. On the reverse side is stamped the Broad Arrow of British Ownership over WD for War Department over Crown over 36 over W, inspection marking. The grips are in very good condition with no damage and wear commensurate with its age. The two rivets are secure. The release mechanism is in good working order. The pommel is stamped 6781 which is possibly a rifle or rack number over either a 6 or 8 - 1 WK. which indicates it was from the 1st Royal Warwickshire Regiment 6th Foot. The scabbard is in very good condition with no damage or corrosion with the leather and stitching intact Both the chape and the locket are stamped adjacent to their staples with inspection markings.
