Very rare and original, ca1905 Tin Lithograph Advertising Tray for Schmauss Beer Garden and Cafe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This wonderful, Tin Litho Restaurant and Saloon Advertising Tray measures 6" in diameter and features a fantastic, Bird’s-Eye-View of an indoor, German style Beer Garden and Cafe with dozens of tables, scores of diners and drinkers and a waiter carrying a tray with a bottle of beer and glasses. At the center there is a stage where a Band / Orchestra is performing. There are large, indoor trees and walls decorated in the style of a German Tavern.
The only text on the Tray reads simply “Schmauss Garden and Cafe”. The lithography is of the very highest quality, however, the tray does not carry a manufacturer’s mark.
This very rare and wonderful, ca1905 Souvenir / Advertising Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original ca1905 Tin Litho Tray manufactured for and distributed by Schmauss Beer Garden and Cafe of Milwaukee.
This rare and original, early 20th century Tin Lithograph Milwaukee Beer Garden and Cafe Souvenir / Advertising Tray is in very good condition. The colors are bright and vibrant although a bit muted as manufactured. There are no bends or creases. The central image area is clean and crisp and the Tray displays beautifully. There is a black spot at 12 o’clock on the edge of the image area, some scattered small surface blemishesand some wear to the very edge of the rolled rim but overall the Tray is well preserved and displays nicely!! Please see the scans below for a good indication of the content and condition of this wonderful piece of Tin Lithographed Advertising!!
