Gerber Mark II Vintage 1967 Vietnam Era Knife Wasp-Waisted Blade MK 2 Mk2 MKII Rare 1st Year Production 1 of 1250 MUST SEE

  • Gerber Mark II Vintage 1967 Combat Knife
  • Original Sheath
  • Original Sharpening Steel
  • The Gerber Mark II knife was the brain child of retired Captain C.A. \"Bud\" Holzman, who designed the knife as a true combat knife for US troops. It was sold in 1967 while USA was deeply involved in the Vietnam war and was marketed directly to US troops in Southeast Asia. The knife’s drop-forged, double edged wasp-waisted edge was stout & sharp, and the cast-in place, textured aluminum grip known as “Steel Grip”, was nearly indestructible.

The Gerber Mark II was a knife built for the battlefield it was very durable and incredibly effective. About three-quarters of the way through its first production year the Mark II received its 1st revision. Its unique feature of a 5 ° canted blade was straightened because of excessive returns to the factory (users didn’t realize the canted blade was intentional and were returning the knife for straightening). Only 1250 of these “straight blade” Mark II knives were produced in 1967. This particular knife is one of the best examples of this rare group. According to previous owner this knife was purchased by the parents of “William Matthews Jr.” and sent sent to him in Vietnam. It has his name factory inscribed on the blade and optional sharping steel. It obviously did not see much use as it is is amazing condition. No rust or pitting on blade. Edge looks original. Original finish is intact, only minor handling marks. Original leather sheath also in great condition. Please view pics for full details.
