GERMAN REGIMENTAL MILITARY CAVALRY RESERVIST PORCELAIN BEER STEIN WITH LID AND LITHOPHANE. New. This wonderful porcelain German Regimental Military Cavalry Reservist 1907-1910 antique-style beer stein features 3 hand painted military countryside scenes following the life of a soldier who served his country. First we see the reservist on horseback offerding farewell to a lovely maiden, we are then taken along on a ride across the countryside to join his Company, and the last pane is a vivid depiction of the Cavalry riders charge into battle. The Bavarian Crest and Bavarian Crown a pictured in the front. There are various German phrases, and on each side of the handle are the names of reservists in that particular Company. The hinged, pewter metal lid features raised embossed designs, with the wording “Der treu gedihnt hat seine zeit jhm sei ein voll es glas geweih” which basically translates to “those that have faithfully served may their glass be full”. Detailed with a soldier on horse finial top, and Griffin of Baden shield of arms thumb lift. A lithophane inside the bottom of the stein depicts the soldiers return home from war, injured and walking with cane in hand, re-uniting with the maiden he left behind.Measures 12” high to top of finial x 4 ¼” base.
