Very good condition and guaranteed original pre WWI ImperialGerman Model 1871 Mauser bayonet. Maker marked “ALEX COPPEL SOLINGEN” on theleft side ricasso and dated 1875 on the spine. Unit marked “104.R.4.2.” on theleft side of the guard for the 104th (5th Royal Saxon)Infantry Regiment, Company 4, Weapon 2. Blade has nice original bright finishand was period sharpened. Has a little pitting at the tip. Has leather washerat the base. Guard has bright and gray metal finish. Brass grip has nice mellowpatina and working lock button and leaf spring. Nice clear Fraktur letterproofs on the left side of the pommel. Fitted in correct original leatherscabbard that has brass throat and tip. Throat has a matching unit marking tothat on the guard along with another cancelled marking. Leather shows somewear, stitching shows some pulling but seam remains tight and scabbard displayswell on bayonet. Staples are nice and tight. A hard to find M/71 Mauser bayonetwith matching unit markings that will make an excellent addition to yourcollection.
