Description:
A very finely decorated antique mid 19th CenturyJapaneseKutanipottery charger plate, in the Shoza style,with overglaze enamel decoration in three main panels surrounded by iron red and gold gilt floral borders.
The top panel features two exotic birds on a blossoming branch. The largest square panel depicts a man ina gold robe carrying a large sack on a stick. He is speaking to a young buy seated under a tree. The bottom panel is a detailed scene of buildings in a mountainouslandscape. The reverse side is boldly painted with large leaves, the centre with a standard Kutani mark in gold on red.

Condition:
In very good antique condition, with no visible damage or restoration, but some light expected wear to the enamels. Image 6 shows a short firing fault to the pottery - this is not later damage but occurred during manufacture. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
