The NAS received was an undamaged unused factory sealed Synology DS423+ which was recognized by Synology as genuine upon set up- YEAH! The NAS was packaged securely inside a second box with bubble wrap for protection. Newegg provided a tracking number and shipped the item quickly. I have ZERO complaints and I would most definitely purchase from Newegg again.

Synology NAS
Synology may not use the most cutting edge hardware in their NAS machines but their software interface is second to none. If you're an IT person it doesn't really matter - go with the latest hardware you can afford; however, if you're a layman, software and ease of set-up makes your life soooo much easier but as always YMMV.
