This sale is for an original WWI US Model 1905 bayonetand an original WWII US M3 fighting knife that were both carried by the sameAmerican soldier during WWII. Bayonet is in very good condition. Marked RIA onthe left side of the blade for Rock Island Arsenal and dated 1917 with aflaming bomb proof mark. Blade has original blue metal finish showing somewear. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Wood grips donot exactly match each other and may be replacements. The left grip isexcellent while the right grip shows wear and a chip near the tang. Fitted incorrect original WWI scabbard. Canvas covering is salty with some wear andstaining. Leather tip has tight stitching and some flaking. Complete with belthook that has added wire for hanging on a wall. Scabbard has a tag attachedwhich reads “Doddy Kohlmier carried-WWII”. The knife is also in very goodcondition. Maker marked CASE on the blade and dated 1943 along with the model designation.Has a partially visible small flaming bomb proof mark on the pommel. Blade hasbright and gray metal finish. Leather washer grip shows some wear and handlingmarks. Fitted in correct original M6 leather sheath that is clearly marked “U.S.M6 MILSCO 1943” on the front with a flaming bomb proof mark. Leather is softand supple with some wear and flaking. Stitching and rivets are nice and tight.The middle part of the belt loop has a tear. Complete with belt hook and handlestraps that have working snap. The belt hook has an added leather thong forhanging on a wall, and also has a tag attached which reads “Doddy Kohlmiercarried-WWII”. Interesting set of GI edged weapons that will make an impressiveaddition to your collection and warrant further research.
