M1905 Rock Island Arsenal sword bayonet for M1903 Springfield rifle. Will mount on any M1903, M1903A3 or M1 Garand rifle with standard bayonet lug. RIA and 1906 dated, opposite side only US marked, as first year RIA bayonets were not serial numbered. Blade is cleaned to a bright light gray, appears free of sharpening with one minuscule nick near the tip. Wood grips are excellent with original milling marks present. Exterior metal surfaces have an untouched light rust patina. Scabbard leather has fine original finish with minor scuffing from use, stitching pulled out at tip from leather being slightly shrunken, otherwise stitching is all intact. Scabbard is marked 7 G 9 and bayonet is marked 7 G 50, most likely from having served in G company of a 7th regiment with the scabbard having unit number 9 and the bayonet having unit number 50, no doubt having been switched at some point in the arsenal. It\'s interesting to know that this bayonet and scabbard has been together for a very long time, since it\'s time of service and not switched by any modern day or past collectors.
