Marked June 2, 1896 Patented Miners Candlestick, Samuel Nash,Georgetown,Colorado
Price: US $158.59

Nice early 1896 patent marked Miners candlestick from Sam Nash, a well-known tinsmith fromGeorgetown, Colorado who worked there foralmost 40 years. This heat-treated steel coiled candlestick was issued U.S. patent number 561,428,stamped \"PAT.JUNE 2, 96\" on the spike. As noted in the conditions listing, the stamping he used was partially obscured by his flat stamp on the small diameter roundsteel spike.I lived in Georgetown for 27 years and only found one miners candlestickat a mine. It was a Sam Nash patented wire stick that still had its spring tension although it was covered with solid rust. In the patent papers Sam Nash assigned half the interest in the patent to Ernest Le Neve Foster, whowas the Colorado State Geologist and a friend of his in Georgetown a few years earlier.A great historical artifact, don\'t miss this nice example. This stick and the other one I have at sale now are the only two\"patent marked\"steel coil wire candlestickstyles known. See my sales ofthe othermarkedpatented Miners candlestick from Victor, Colorado, and Minerscloth caps from \"Beall Bros. Alton, ILL.\" with Lattimore patented lamp bracket, and amarked\"Hardsocg Mfg.
