Here is an authentic, vintage to antique and stunning HOPI PALHIK MANA KACHINA, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - A WELL CARVED / PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD KATSINA CARVING. A well carved and painted, very collectible, and old Hopi Katsina Doll, which is made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker, and is is part of an estate collection of Kachinas made by R. Dawyenie.

This is afine looking Kachina, with a great overall workmanship, original paints, and expert overall carving. She is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood standing, at about 10\" tall, and 7 1/2\" wide at Tableta. There is some very minor wear to paint / feathers, yet she is is Excellent Condition overall! The feathers on head, paints and all accoutrements are original. No notable damage - There is NO DAMAGE, only expected wear for age such as minor paint and feather loss!!! This Kachina, as you can see from the pics, displays extremely well and is a handsome and collectible piece of Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A LESS COMMON PALHIK MANA KACHINA! WOMEN WHO APPEAR IN THE MAMZRAU INITIATION DANCE ARE CALLED PALHIK MANAS. THIS KACHINA IS ALSO OFTEN, BUT MISTAKINGLY, CALLED THE BUTTERFLY GIRL AND THE SHALAKO MANA. carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker - Hopituh Shimunuh!!!

Note the Arms move - this Kachina has some Pueblo, possibly Zuni influence (Shalako Mana).

Excellent condition for age and a true Collector\'s item!!!!
