Here is an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AN EARLIER HOPI TASAF YEBITCHAI OR TALKING GOD KACHINA, IN GREAT CONDITION FOR AGE, A WELL CARVED / PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD CARVING. A nice looking, collectible, old and authentic Hopi Katsina Hopi Doll, a made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker c1935 (1930-1940).

This is a fine looking TASAF YEBITCHAI, with a great workmanship - a brilliant paint job and expert, detailed carving. He is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood standing, at about 6 1/2\" tall, and 3 1/4\"wide at fists. Excellent Condition for Age - There is a repaired crack in each foot and a chip on the tip of beak, otherwise no damage or breaks, there is some expected wear/loss to paint and feathers. This Kachina, as you can see from the pics, displays extremely well and is a handsome and collectible piece of Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more consistent. Note that one ear of corn on Case Mask is yellow and the other THIS IS AN OLDER and FINE LOOKINGTASAF YEBITCHAI, A TALKING GOD,WHICH REPRESENTS THE HOPI\'S SURROUNDING NEIGHBORS, THE NAVAJO. THIS IS A RARE KACHINA RARELY SEEN THIS OLD, IT IS A UNIQUE VERSION OF THE NAVAJO YEI BI CHI NIGHTWAY SONG/CEREMONY, THE TALKING GOD LEADS THIS DANCE. YOU WILL NOT SEE ANOTHER ONE OF THESE FOR ALONG TIME - A GOOD carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker - Hopituh Shimunuh!!!
