Size: The blade is approximately 16-3/4\" long, with an overall length of approximately 21-5/8\".
Description: This is an original World War One model 1917 bayonet which was produced to accommodate the enormous shortfall in Lee Enfield ( SMLE ) rifles being produced in England. The United States company, Remington, was contracted to produce these bayonets for the \"American Enfield\" Model 1917 .30 caliber bolt action rifle. According to Worldbayonets.com, this bayonet will also fit the Winchester 1897 trench shotgun. The scabbard is of British pattern and is considered correct to this model of bayonet.
Condition: The blade is in excellent condition, with some of its original finish remaining. There are areas where the finish has rubbed away via the scabbard, and no visible areas of erosion. There is a brown patina, and light erosion on the cross guard. The wood grips have made it through the years in great order, with minor scuffs from storage, and no major damages or losses. The pommel has moderate pitting. The scabbard\'s leather body is in great shape with no major damage, or losses, and 100% stitching remaining. The metal portions of the scabbard have a good deal of finish left. Please see our photographs.
