For sale is a very nice Philco Predicta Pedestal or "Barber Pole"television. Thought of at the time as being "too radical" in regards to styling, this TV ended up beingthe most iconic TVof the era despite not selling well at the time.The particular set is the 21" Pedestal model in therare blonde finish. Cosmetically the set is in good condition. The cabinet is solid and unrestored. There are scratches and wear marks typical of the age of the set. There is one small split in the wood on the upper rear of cabinet, I took a picture of it. The plastic cover over the screen is nice with no cracks or gouges.
This TV has been repaired electronically (see pics). All electrolytic, paper, and "bumble bee" style capacitors have been replaced. Networks K4 & K5, filament resistors, fusistor, thermistor, and rectifier diodes have been replaced. All tubes have been tested and 8 were replaced with NOS tubes that were weak or bad. The push on/push off switch has been cleaned and WORKS. Most set's do not have a working on switch. The CRT stills shows a decent picture even in the direct light (pictures were taken midday in front of a window) It should have years left of moderate use. Due to the age of the TV, it is sold ASIS with not warranty. I have played the Predicta for about 8-10 hours total since the electronic repairs and it has been rock solid with no issues.
Local pickup is of course the preferred option for this TV. It will fit in most 4 door cars or larger. However, if the buyer wants to ship the set I will disassemble into 2 pieces and ship in seperate boxes, one for the CRT assembly and the other for the base. I can help the buyer reassemble the TV with instructions, but not responsible for any damage that occurs due to mis-assembly. If the shipping ends up being cheaper than quoted, I will refund any difference.
