Good condition and guaranteed original pre WWI AustrianModel 1888 Mannlicher bayonet that has the Steyr “OEWG” marking on the leftside of the blade ricasso. Bayonet is unit marked “JB2 1234” on top of thepommel for issue to the 2nd FeldJaeger Battalion. Blade has originalbright finish with some brown along the edge and has been sharpened. Remaining metalfinish is original bright finish with some gray and brown. Wood grips haveoriginal finish and show some wear and handling marks, lock button functionsfine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has mostly bright colorwith some gray and brown and a little pitting. Scabbard has a few small dings. Bayonetdoes not enter the scabbard the whole way. Bayonet is also complete withcorrect original leather frog. Leather is soft and supple with some wear. Stitchinghas one area of pulling, otherwise nice and tight. A hard to find AustrianM.1888 bayonet that will make a great addition to your collection.
