RARE VINTAGE ANTIQUE ALEXANDER DOLL. BLUE SLEEPY EYES DOLL. Eyes work! Doll appears to have had some kind of clear coating that is peeling. See pics. This doll took some research. Only marking is on the back of the head marked Alexander. What I found is shown below. Very adorable sweet face! 17\"
1952 Alexander Rosebud doll, 16-18\" tall,1953 Rosebud doll,13, 15, 16-18\" or 22-25\" tall, vinyl flange head, cloth body with crier, vinyl lower limbs both arms and legs, molded short curly hair or rooted hair, sleep eyes, closed mouth, marked:Alexander. This baby, above, is very typical of the large drink & wet baby dolls that were ever so popular in the 1950s. Some of the known ones are American Character Tiny Tears and Baby Toodles, Ideal\'s Betsy Wetsy, and Alexander\'s Kathy. In addition, many found today are unmarked, or marked with untraceable codes, making it difficult to identify them. Some of the companies that made these harder to identify dolls were the Natural Doll Company, and Eegee. These were probably the bargain dolls of the times. Most were made of hard vinyl, molded painted hair, sleep eyes (that often get cloudy), and nurser mouths with an exit hole in the bottom.
