This is a Rice Patent "Marshall" Folding Miners' CandlestickIt is in Excellent Condition!This Very Same Folding Stick can be found on Page 194 of
The Miner's Flame Light Book, by Henry Pohs.
This Stick was marketed under the "Marshall" brand name. from the catalog of the pacific Hardware and Steel Company, San Francisco, California.They differ from the "Rice" version in being fully nickel plated. The Rice version is also stamped "RICE PAT MARCH 29, 1881".This stick is 4 inches folded and 6.5 inches unfolded. (from "Miner's Candlesticks", Bobrink/Wilson)
The nickel plating on this stick is in excellent condition, with very little pitting or imperfections whatsoever as the images will show.
This stick folds easily and does not stick, it is well crafted and looks absolutely beautiful. This will make for a great addition
to your mining artifacts collection, and has the addedprovenanceof being featured in the Henry Poh's Miner's Flame light book.
