Springfield Armory US 1880 RIA Hunting Knife W/S ALL ORIGINAL S# 3400

You are offerding on an antique 1880s United States Military Springfield Armoryand Rock Island Arsenal single edged hunting knifeor entrenching knife with belt sheath. There is some oxidation to the blade and wear to the handle and sheath but, there are no chips or cracks, no dings or dents, and no signs of repair. The knife has a turned wooden (maybe mahogany) handle, brass hilt, and spear point blade with a peaked spine; the sheath is leather with brass at the top and for the belt hook. The blade is 8 1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide and the overall length of the piece is 13 9/16 inches; the sheath measures 14 3/4 inches by 3 3/8 inches wide. Theknife is marked U.S. Springfield and 3400 on the front and back of the hilt and the sheath is marked R.I.A. on the back of the belthook as well asliet, senal, G.H. at the top of the sheath(pictured).
