Any other use beyond the stated purpose of \'collector item/memorabilia\', the buyer assumes full responsibility for the result of their actions or manner in which they use the cane. Our canes DO NOT come with any warranty against breakage or cracking if used in consensual impact play including swishing them. We are unable to offer a \'breakproof/crackproof\' rattan cane until Mother Nature bestows us with such a rattan. We craft all our canes with carefully picked material but this is an implement that can be short lived in the hands of a novice or unskilled hand. Please do not send us requests for replacements or refunds if the cane got to you in one piece. Any use of it beyond that point, you are fully assuming responsibility and risk for what you might do with the product or how you choose to use it. We do not offer any kind of assurance or warranty on the life of our canes and by buying our product, you fully acknowledge these terms of sale.
This is a hand crafted natural kooboo rattan punishment cane and we call it \'The Prefect\' suitably wielded by prefects and head girls and head boys for administering discipline in English public schools in the 1960s and before. The Prefect is a thin, light, whippy and swishy rattan cane aptly designed for the young prefects and Head Girls and Head Boys to swiftly administer correction to pupils in their charge. This is also an excellent cane of choice for modern day Head Girls and Head Boys in a school do scenario as well as aspiring beginners with the implement.
This straight handled plain version of \'The Prefect\' cane and is approximately 28 inches long ( 70 cms) and 7mm thick.(actual measurements can vary between 28-30\"(70-75 cms) in length and 6.5-7.5mm in thickness due to nature of the raw material)

About our Canes
Unless otherwise specified and noted, all our canes are hand crafted out of natural kooboo rattan (with skin) which is golden yellow to yellowish brown in color. Our top grade canes have choice cut lengths of kooboo rattan with minimal blemishes (which is inherent to kooboo rattan as it is a natural product).
Custom/Bespoke orders and requests
If you have a custom/bespoke request for a cane with specific length or diameter or handle type or even extra steps in our finishing process (extracoats of varnish or poly or if you don\'t want it coated with poly), please enquire by sending us a message and we\'ll try our best toaccommodate your request if it is within our production parameters. Extra charges might apply based on your request and please do note that requests for canes over 37 inches or 93 cms length will also incur additional shipping charges. We ship our canes by USPS Priority Mail tubes which offer the best trackable and fastest shipping method throughout the US and they have a 37 inch (93 cms) maximum length restriction.

Shipping and Payment Policy
Weship by USPS Priority Mail as our standard option which has delivery estimates of 2 to 3 business days. Overnight Shipping by USPS Express Mail is also available if you prefer to have it fast. Shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on your location and the quantity you select and the method of shipping you select (Priority or Express). This offers the buyer the advantage of combined shipping discounts and reduced shipping costs in case of multiple items. Shipping Costs are calculated by combined weight and destination so if you are buying multiple items, use the \'Add to Cart\' option and checkout all your items at once to take advantage of the combined shipping discounts. The combined shipping discount will be reflected during the final checkout and will be displayed by shipping calculator.
We now do direct shipping (vs Global Shipping) of our canes to International customers in Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and select list of EU countries. If you see your country on the drop down list, then we ship to you. We use USPS First Class Int\'l as our shipping method to ship most of our canes and this is the most economical option for International shipping and it is trackable to Canada and select list of countries. Please do note USPS First Class Int\'l option has length and width restrictions so we will not be able to ship canes over 34\" (85 cms) or any crook handled canes using this method. Please select USPS Priority Mail Int\'l if you want canes over 34\" or crook handled canes. This shipping option is also available for non crook handled canes if the buyer so desires. We use corrugated round mailing tubes to ship our canes internationally by USPS FC Int\'l.Shipping charges DO NOT include customs/import fees, brokerage, VAT etc in the destination country and they are the responsibility of the buyer.We will mark our package contents as \'Historical/Theatrical School Props\' in the customs form with nominal value of the goods.
We accept Paypal payments. Paypal E-Check payments will ship only after the check clears payment and this can take up to 3 weeks so please avoid using them.
All payments are due instantly once you click \'Buy It Now\'.
We ship our products to Paypal confirmed addresses ONLY. If your address has changed in the recent past, please make the address change in your Paypal account first and confirm it before placing an order to reflect your current mailing address. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy and we will not ship to alternate addresses so please take note of this policy which is there to protect both the buyer and seller.
We ship our products within 1 to 2 business days of receiving payment. Orders placed during the weekends (after Saturday 10 AM PST/1 PM EST) will ship the following Monday.Since we use USPS as our exclusive shipping method, we ship on Saturdays as well and cutoff time for orders is 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST for Saturday same day shipping and any orders we get after 10 AM PST on Saturday is not guaranteed to go out the same day but will ship out on Monday.

Returns Policy
Due to the nature of the product and for health and safety reasons, there are NO RETURNS ACCEPTED for this item except in the rare cases of a defective item and we avoid those mishaps at all costs. We ensure we ship a quality defect free item to our customers.
Our canes are exclusively shipped using USPS Priority/Priority Express Medium mailing tubes OR Round corrugated picture mailing tubes which offers maximum protection to the canes and both are solidly constructed corrugated mailing tubes. This ensures a safe and damage free delivery of our canes in most cases.
A message to our customers

If you have noticed, our cane prices have crept up slowly in the past few months and you might be wondering if we are getting greedy and arbitrarily raising our prices. Fair assumption but we do owe an explanation for this price increase phenomenon.

Our rattan cost, the chief raw material of our canes has gone up 30% since Mid 2013 due to price increases from our suppliers. Good quality rattan best suited to make this implement is getting harder to obtain due to export restrictions and bans from countries where rattan grows. Not all varieties of rattan is best suited for making this implement and we are very fastidious and diligent when it comes to procuring the best rattan for our canes which translates to a quality implement.

We have also been steadily improvising our canes in terms of design and materials we use. We are slowly but steadily switching all our cane handles to high grade American made whip making paracord which offers a flat profile and flush handle design. We also switched to a special premium grade low VOC polyurethane and high grade low VOC wood stain which offers high quality finish on our canes that does not affect the natural look of the rattan implement. We found a solution to finish the top of the handle with rubberised finish which secures the handle well and very durable. Our cane handle base which we still use tape to secure and fasten, we use the highest quality military grade tape which has excellent adhesion and tensile strength to hold it in place. And we continue to explore ways to make our implements better in quality and design. You will see all these changes in our new stock as we replenish them.

Finally, this is a small boutique shop catering to a very select audience and not a mass produced product and we want to keep it that way to maintain the quality and standard of our canes. All our canes are exclusively handcrafted by us in the United States and everything involving making this implement would have to be done manually except simple hand tools. We can cut corners and offer you an inferior quality cane and maintain our prices but we decided against that. We aim to bring you a high quality implement with no compromises on the quality and standards of our canes and in fact we plan on improving them as we discover ways to do so even if that means passing on the cost to the buyer and we do sincerely hope our buyers are discerning to know the difference between a quality rattan punishment cane and a cheaply made stick that passes up for a cane.

We are unable to guarantee the prices for our canes owing to the nature of the raw material which comes primarily from South Asia and the increasing stringent restrictions on export of rattan by the governments of the rattan producing countries and we do foresee rattan prices increasing. Other factors like fee increases from market fronts for our selling our wares also affect our pricing. What we can guarantee you is that we will continue to bring a quality cane for our discerning buyers and ever improve on its quality and standards even if it means passing on some of that costs to our end customers. That is our promise and goal and we will strive to provide a quality rattan punishment cane to our customers with no compromises on quality and standards.
