Up for sale this week is this superb Georgian goldsignet ring, dating to the late 18th - early 19th century. Thering is unmarked but has been electronically tested as solid 18kgold. The ring is set with an exquisite carnelian hardstoneintaglio, of a horse crest and motto. The motto reads: PARVECONTEMNIMUS (we despise small things) The crest of thetrotting horse and motto belong to the Gernon family of Athcarne Castle in Ireland.The ring is quite a good size, suitable for contemporary wear byeither a lady or gentleman.
