Thisearly miniature tin tea pot or coffee pot was originally part of a childs or doll's toy teaset. It is lithographed in amulti color motif, with richred andgold over brown andgreen and a richpatina. The tall lidded pitcherstands 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches across, with a welded metal handle.
The pot is decorated with cats and kittens doing their favorite things. The cupshows girl carrying a full grown cat while 3 kittens demolish a ball of yarn. The adorable characters aresurrounded by flowers and a Nouveau stylized border. The piece is unmarked, butwe have seen other pieces in this same pattern marked with the stamp of"T. Bros, Parsons" possibly signifying either Tait Brothers orTrethaway Brothers, prominent American manufacturers in the late19th and early 20th century locatedin Parsons, Pennsylvania. (Tait wasthepremier maker of tinsand buckets and other finelydetailedtin litho products while Trethaway manufactured mining equipmentand other metal fabrications.)If anyone reading this description hasmoredefinitiveinformation on the subject, we would be happy toamend ourdescriptionas our intent is to provide the most accurateinformationas possible.
The piece is invery good condition overall with noscratches, dents orrust. An old weld repair at the base of the handle. Minor fading pocking and wear consistent with age and prior use.Asweet example of early tiny litho toys and dollhouse tea sets, withan irresistible range of cats and kittens. We have listed separately acompanion cup and saucer from a tea set and a few other tin litho toys to mix and match.
