Very good condition and guaranteed original US Navy Model1870 Remington Rolling Block rifle bayonet. Maker marked “AMES MFG. CO.CHICOPEE” on the right side blade ricasso. Left side is marked“U.S.N./G.G.S./1870”. 20” blade has original bright finish with some gray andbrown. Brass grip has nice even patina. Both sides of pommel have the US Navyordnance wheel design. Grip is marked “GGS.” On top. Lock button and leafspring function fine. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that hasbrass throat and tip. Leather shows some wear, stitching shows some splitting.The rivets on the back of the throat are absent, otherwise throat and tiprivets are tight. A rare US Navy Model 1870 Rolling Block bayonet, with only10,000 produced, that will make a fine addition to your collection.
