Here we start with a vintage & very nice looking brass bird cage with a animated mechanical singing bird inside that does need some attention to work properly. The bird cage & bird are in fantastic looking condition with just a very small amount of aged related wear. There are no dents, dings or rust on the cage. These singing animated bird cages were popular back in the 1930\'s & 40\'s era & are still collectable in todays market. I have taken many pictures of this amazing & cute looking little brassbirdcage so you may get a good view & this cool looking item.
This bird cage has a key on the bottomthat winds themechanical portion of this bird cage up but thisneeds some attention. After winding the mechanism the bird will turn from side to side &the bird beak open & closes \"to some degree\" & the tail moves up & down. Thereis a brass switch/knob on the bottom to turn the mechanism on & off however when turning it on, itneeds a tap on the bottom of thecage to get the mechanism working. Also when the mechanism is working & the bird is in motion doingit\'s animation, there is a clicking noise or sound that can be heard while the bird is doing it in motion. This bird is suppose to be singing or making some sort of noise while it is in animation but it does not. There is no noise other than the clicking sound thatyou can hear. I believe this specific bird cage has bellows or a diaphragm inside \"as others have amusic box\"& these bellows/diaphragm must be broken & that is why the bird does not sing? I do not work on thesesinging bird cages& I have no idea how to fix it or what the expense would be to get it fixed. For this reason I am selling this singing animated bird cage in \"as is\" condition. This is still a very nice collectable bird cage & in the right hands could be made whole again.
