Vintage 1922 Martin 2k Soprano Ukulele
Price: US $406.00
Up for sale is a vintage 1922 Martin 2k Soprano ukulele. This is abeautiful sounding and playing ukulele. This is more of a \"players\" instrument than acollectors piece due to two large repaired (sealed but you can still see and feel the cracks) and replacement modern Pohaku tuners. I hate to part with this piece, but at this time I could use the money. I purchased this from Retrofret Vintage guitars for over $1000 Dollars without a case, but I will include a hardshell with this sale. Retrofret vintage guitars is a very respected vintage dealer in the market and I will include the original sales receipt. Her is thedescription from when I purchased it :
C. F. Martin Style 2K Model Soprano Ukulele, c. 1922, made in Nazareth, PA, natural varnish finish, Koa body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. A very fine sounding Martin Style 2K ukulele from the early 1920\'s, with lovely early-style koa on the top and back. This uke is finished in the very thin early \'20\'s varnish and originally had wooden pegs; it is currently fitted with the geared Pohaku tuners that fit the headstock without modification, allowing much easier tuning. The 2K is a medium-fancy uke with triple celluloid bound top, single bound back and six-ply soundhole ring. Other features include bar frets, a rosewood fingerboard with small dot inlay, an ebony nut and maple saddle. The 2K listed at over $20.00 in the 1920\'s, which was quite expensive for a uke and the model sold in much smaller quantities than the less expensive style 0\'s and 1\'s.Overall length is 20 3/4 in. (52.7 cm.), 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 1/4 in. (5.7 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 3/4 in. (349 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/16 in. (36 mm.). All original except for the newer tuners; there is some minor wear to the finish but overall very nice for this era. There are major repaired cracks on each side, fully sealed up but not finished over definitely noticeable. Despite these repairs this is a lovely sounding koa wood uke from Martin\'s best era. Very Good + Condition.
