This necklace is unique for its detailed Egyptian Revival design and for it\'s delicate profile. The chain is about 2.5mm in diameter so the piece is light in weight and slinky when worn. At some point this necklace was repaired, there are spots of solder by the tail and the head of the snake which fix the components to the chain. The repair was not done perfectly as the chains do not drape perfectly symmetrical as they probably would have originally - the photo of the necklace on the mannequin best depicts that. The glass cabochon was made to simulate Jade and has a full and domed shape jutting out from the base of the setting. There are two small chips along the base of the glass but due to their size and location it is noticeable only upon close inspection. The snake head is the only spot where there was enameling and there is some chipping and surface wear - maybe 70% of the enamel is still intact. The setting has a golden patina with only a modest amount of darkening/discoloration. Overall this is a detailed and striking, Art Deco Egyptian Revival snake necklace, that is from the 1930\'s and is in good condition.
